Avelino Corma: BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award

The BBVA Foundation has granted its Frontiers of Knowledge Award in the category of Basic Sciences a Avelino Corma, Research Professor ad honorem of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) (CSIC), Distinguished Researcher at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) and founder of the Institute of Chemical Technology (ITQ), Mixed Center of the CSIC and the UPV, for "promoting fundamental advances in the field of catalysis"

From the SECAT We give the congratulations to our distinguished partner, who has received this award together with John F. Hartwig (University of California, Berkeley, United States) and Helmut Schwarz (Technical University of Berlin, Germany), whose research has made it possible to "control and accelerate chemical reactions to obtain products in multiple industrial processes, improving efficiency and reducing energy consumption," according to an announcement by the BBVA Foundation.

The Frontiers of Knowledge Awards distinguish fundamental advances, disciplinary or interdisciplinary, in a broad domain of the map of knowledge of the twenty-first century. In the case of Avelino Corma, highlights its contribution to the development of chemical processes and catalysts, necessary to improve the efficiency and sustainability of chemical reactions used in all industries.
