Premio TESIS 2023

  • Secretary

The Governing Board of SECAT, at its meeting of April 11, 2024, ratifies the proposal of 2023 Thesis Award which was transferred to him by the Valuation Committee appointed for that purpose. Both, Commission and Board, want to record the high quality of the theses presented and their very diverse fields within the area of catalysis, congratulating them for this and thanking them for the work done and the interest shown in the call.

The resolution is as follows:

The selected thesis, with international mention, is excellent and develops a novel methodology for the immobilization of enzymes both in more classical materials such as SBA15 and in MOF-type materials, including "one pot" type synthesis. Its chapters are rigorously discussed and advanced characterization techniques are used, including in the candidate's CV several visits to synchrotron facilities, to solve the structures. The result of the thesis is the publication of four scientific articles, in high-impact journals, as first author and another two as a collaborator, as well as numerous communications to conferences, which include oral presentation by the candidate. His training also includes two international research stays. The candidate has completed her training by attending numerous courses, and supervising students of the bachelor's and master's degree final projects. He has also participated in the organization of scientific events and outreach activities. For all of the above, the winning candidacy corresponds to:

MARÍA ASUNCIÓN MOLINA ESQUINAS

For the Doctoral Thesis entitled

"Immobilization of enzymes in MOFs: design and applications".

developed at the Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemistry (ICP) of the CSIC, directed by the doctors Manuel Sánchez-Sánchez and Rosa María Blanco Martín, and defended on February 24, 2023 – Universidad Autónoma de Madrid – Doctoral Program in Applied Chemistry, obtaining the qualification of Outstanding Laude and the mention of International Doctorate.

Congratulations to the award-winning doctor, her directors, research group and centre/university.
