2 FPI Predoctoral Contracts in the CREG group – Unizar

APPLICATION DEADLINE: 9 January 2024

Two Employment Contracts (FPI) are offered, both with the aim of carrying out the dissertation (PhD), in the field of Hydrogen as an energy vector of renewable origin through catalytic processes.

Contract period up to 4 years.

It may be combined with stays in foreign research centres to extend the training (limited periods of time). The financial aid to carry out these stays is covered by the call itself.

Conditions:

  • The date of incorporation is expected to be on March 1, 2024.
  • Joining the research group CREG (Reactor Catalysis and Engineering Group) (https://creg.i3a.es/) of the Engineering Research Institute of Aragon (https://i3a.unizar.es) of the University of Zaragoza.
  • Contract Duration: Up to 4 years (3 + 1) from signature.
  • Workplace: Hydrogen Technologies Laboratory (LTH2) or Reactor Technology Laboratory (LTR) of the I3A. Ed. Research Institutes of the University of Zaragoza; c/ Mariano Esquillor s/n, 50.018 Zaragoza.

Requirements:

  • Be in possession of a Master, or failing that, to be able to demonstrate that they have passed at least 60 ECTS credits of those leading to the mandatory Master's degree.
  • Preferably candidates with a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Industrial Engineering or Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency.
  • Competitive concurrence regime. The candidate will be chosen by means of a merit-based competition, among which the following can be mentioned: qualifications of the access qualifications (master's and bachelor's degrees), publication in scientific and technical articles, communications to scientific and technical conferences, accredited knowledge in the subject of the doctoral thesis, etc.
  • Be admitted to the doctoral programme in Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the University of Zaragoza or be in a position to be admitted to the University of Zaragoza's research staff on the date of their incorporation into the research staff (PI).

CONTRACT 1

Intensified biogas and renewable hydrogen energy exploitation through tri-functional materials and unconventional reactor configurations (EBHUC)

The objective of the doctoral thesis is to produce Synthetic Natural Gas from biogas and green hydrogen (Strategy Power to Gas) by thermocatalytic processes. It consists of obtaining new fuels of renewable origin, future substitutes for current fossil fuels such as natural gas. The project to which this predoctoral training contract is linked is funded by the Spanish Research Agency (AEI) with reference number: PID2022-138569NB-I00.

CONTRACT 2

CO Usage2 e H2 to produce methanol via Enhanced Adsorption Reactors (CO2SER)

The project focuses on the synthesis of methanol and aims to bring significant improvements that make better use of CO2 of other production processes and achieve a potential chemical storage of future surplus hydrogen from renewable sources. To this end, a new type of enhanced adsorption catalytic reactors (SER) based on fluidized beds with continuous adsorbent flow is used, which allows high reagent conversions to be achieved and to operate in steady state. The project to which this predoctoral training contract is linked is funded by the Spanish Research Agency (AEI) with reference number: PID2022-139819OB-I00.
